One year later on the other side of the world!!!!

Nova Scotia, Canada, is as far away as I could possibly get from Canberra, Australia ... but here  I am ... and finally settling back into my knitting and basketry.

I have a show opening on May 21st at Peer Gallery in Lunenburg, NS (Such a beautiful spot - a UNESCO World Heritage Site!!!)

I am sharing the space with abstract painter, Lisa Wright, and we can't wait to set the show up ... it's going to be amazing!!!

So thrilled to learn that one of my latest pieces, Swept, has been shortlisted for the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award!!!! 

I had so much fun creating this piece with prongs from street cleaner brushes.

WHAT AN HONOUR!!!!!

I am a finalist in this year's Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize with my piece Moulin (pothole)!!!!!!!

This is going to be exciting!!! Great organisers....great venue....great entertainment and refreshments.....and of course some great crafts people and designers!!!

If you are passing through Goulburn  between  12 December and 19 January be sure to drop in to the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery to have a look at their show Come to Your Senses...... A show of art you CAN touch!  There will be three of my pieces in there including a new work called Rockpool.

The show opening is Friday 14 December at 6 pm.

OMG!!! So much for my New Year's resolution to keep my blog up to date ....with at least monthly posts!!!  

Don't forget Handmade Markets this weekend at the National Convention Centre. I am ONLY doing Saturday. Surely there is someone on your Christmas list that would just love a sanded pot, a pair of knitted earrings, or a funky basket made from recycled plastic strapping!!!

Tonight is the CAPO 28 Auction at the National Archives here in Canberra. I have donated one of my favorite baskets - "Gallery Shopper". Check it out on the CAPO website

Here are some pics from that wonderful week with John Garrett at Hunter Hill at the end of this past September...it seems so loooooooooooooong ago!

The piece in the front is one of my new experiments. Using John's idea of caging wire I have woven in plastic strapping. Oh!!!! This has so much potential...now to focus and get on with some!!

and then there was last week in Sydney at Fibre Arts at Hunter Hill with John Garrett!!!!

What an amazing week making baskets out of wire and metal and recycled materials and ... and .... and ...

Me finally learning how to plait at  weekend with Jackie Abrams at ANU School of Art....it did feel a bit strange as I had gone to high school  in the same building...this was much more fun!!!  Jackie was a great teacher...very patient with all of us as we struggled managing all those strips of paper...bit like playing with an octopus.

The Handmade Market's Business Summit was a brilliant day!! 

I learnt so much about stuff I have just been winging my way through....now to put it into practice!

What a busy day it was at the Handmade Markets!! 

So many people who have never seen my work before!! All very exciting!!!!

And I have now placed some of my sanded pots in my bathroom to see if anything happens to them in that steamy setting....watch this space
